Homes sales hot, condos not
In northwest Florida markets, single family home sales have increased four straight months when compared with last year’s numbers. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the number of sales in the condo and townhouse market has declined during the same period.

Local jobless rates up, state down slightly
All area counties with the exception of Walton saw increases in their unemployment rates from May to June 2014. For Santa Rosa, Escambia and Okaloosa counties, June marked the second consecutive month that their unemployment rates had increased. Despite the increases, only Escambia County’s unemployment rate remained above the state and national averages.

Workforce training grants available
Local companies and those from throughout Florida have the opportunity to apply for grant funds to train employees that have been with their companies for at least a year. According to the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, the Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) Program was created to provide grant funding continuing education and customized training for full-time employees at existing Florida businesses.
