A longtime Navarre Beach concert series is facing an unlikely future. During the Tourist Development Council’s recent budget workshop, the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce did not submit a sponsorship request for the Tunes by the Dunes concert series for the upcoming fiscal year.

Branch Properties, the Atlanta-based real estate investment and development firm overseeing several developments in the Navarre area, has announced that Wynnehaven Plaza is now officially open for business. The plaza is a 57,750 square foot shopping center. It is anchored by a 48,387 square foot Publix supermarket, which held its grand opening March 8. The property is 100% pre-leased as of earlier this year.

After five and a half years of serving locals and tourists, Broussard’s Bayou Grill on Navarre Beach has officially said goodbye. On Feb. 26, the restaurant, which had Cajun-style cuisine, served its last meal. Carl Broussard, the owner of Broussard’s, said the last five and half years have been an “unbelievable” ride.

People from across the Navarre community gathered at St. Michael’s Brewery Monday, Feb. 27, for a special event, Cookies On Tap, to have fun and raise money for a worthy cause. The cause that benefited from the event was The Arc Gateway, a 501(c)(3) organization that has been providing services to intellectually and developmentally disabled people in Northwest Florida since 1954.

Tom Kennedy first became aware of Jeremiah’s Italian Ice in the early 2000s, when he would take his wife and two young daughters there, especially during University of Central Florida’s football season. Over 20 years later, he is opening his first franchise with the company here in Navarre. Jeremiah’s Italian Ice was first founded in 1996 with a location in Winter Park, Florida.
