Navarre Slim Chickens set to open on Halloween
A new fast-casual restaurant that specializes in chicken is coming to Navarre and is set to open Oct. 31.
Slim Chickens is located at 8006 Navarre Parkway, right across from the Navarre Post Office.
According to their website, the Slim Chickens menu offers fresh cooked to order chicken tenders, wings, 17 different house sauces to try, wraps, chicken & waffles, a signature Cayenne Ranch chicken sandwich and fresh salads, authentic sides, iced teas (sweet, unsweet, raspberry, peach), lemonade. And it only takes a few minutes to get a fresh hot meal.

Land Development Code changes allow CEFCO to move forward at High School Blvd
A change in the land development code now allows CEFCO to move forward with building a gas station and convenience store in Navarre at High School Boulevard and Highway 87 South after Santa Rosa County Planning and Zoning approved the plan on Sept. 12.
According to Santa Rosa County Community Planning, Zoning, and Development Director Shawn Ward, the County Commissioners adopted a new land development code in August 2021, which eliminated the requirement for 500 feet between residential housing and underground fuel tank storage.
Electric bills likely to increase in 2023
Florida residents and businesses likely will get hit with higher electric bills in 2023 as utilities continue to struggle with increased costs of natural gas.
Florida Power & Light, Duke Energy Florida and Tampa Electric Co. filed petitions Friday at the state Public Service Commission that detailed expected costs in 2023.

State eyes shift on property insurer ratings
Angry at a ratings agency that raised the possibility of downgrading 17 Florida property insurers, state leaders could be poised to look for an alternative.
The Joint Legislative Budget Commission next week is expected to consider a proposal to spend $1.5 million to hire a consultant that would look at options for property insurers to get adequate financial ratings.
