The 2015 Juana’s Good Time Regatta shattered 2014’s previous record of 75 vessels with 120 registrations entered.

This weekend Juana’s Regatta will paint the sound with masts of every color on what they hope is a record-breaking number of boats participating in the two-day event.   The popular race already has more than 70 boats pre-registered, which is the most ever in the 25-year history of the Good Time Regatta.

The busy summer season is set to wind down after the Labor Day weekend for Navarre Beach lifeguards, but they will remain on duty through Nov. 1.  Their service to the community and visitors has been nearly flawless, with only one drowning so far this season.  That drowning occurred at the far west end of Navarre Beach in an unguarded area.

When Santa Rosa County began discussing the next go-round of beach renourishment in January 2013, the estimated price was $12 million to $13 million. All necessary permits have been issued and the project now has an $18 million dollar price tag, which could increase to $19 million if the county doesn’t act soon, according to Michael Walther, a professional engineer with south Florida-based Coastal Tech, who attended Monday’s county commission meeting.
