“Fight Washington and restore America.” This is the phrase that Congressman Matt Gaetz ran on when he threw his hat into the ring to replace the outgoing Jeff Miller. When I first heard it I thought to myself how could these two coexist? Fighting our nation’s capital to restore the nation? This became clear as I watched him win the primary, the general, and then take the fight to Washington to advocate the values of Northwest Florida; all the while punching above his weight.
