Three members of the county’s emergency management team were headed to Sarasota on Oct. 10 along with members of the Escambia County emergency management team.
Public Safety Director Tom Lloyd, Logistics Chief Tim Trowbridge, Plans Chief Kevin Riley, and Public Information Officer Sarah Whitfield all deployed. However, Sarasota actually needed less assistance anticipated, so Santa Rosa officials are being rerouted to another community.
Members of the county’s emergency management team also deployed with Escambia County emergency management to assist Madison County in recovery from Hurricane Helene.
In Madison County, Santa Rosa County personnel helped with recovery serving in positions similar to what they do at their day-to-day jobs, according to Assistant Public Information Officer Brittany Ellers.
They also assisted in other areas as requested by Madison County’s emergency management director. Ellers said sometimes that meant monitoring a comfort station or the points of distribution (POD).
Lloyd also acted as a liaison between local farmers and the EOC to help find a solution for their concerns so they could get back to farming.
Two Santa Rosa County dispatchers also deployed to Taylor County, where they used their expertise to help with 911 dispatch after Hurricane Helene.
