Get hooked on Scooter’s Fish House
Scooter’s Fish House is open every day from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. serving the freshest seafood on the Emerald Coast. The shrimp and the fish are always caught fresh from the Gulf of Mexico. The seafood comes from the ocean straight to their kitchen to your plate.
“We buy fish from four local providers; we simply look for the best,” said owner John Poates. “Fresh fish has to be kept in sub-freezing conditions to ensure its freshness. Any fisherman will agree that fish, once caught need to get cold ASAP or it can ruin the flavor. We buy from four vendors that we trust, and we have seen their processing. No exceptions to the word fresh. If it is not 32 degrees, they will not drop it off here.”
After being rated 18 in Yelp’s “2024 Best Seafood Restaurants in the United States,” Scooter’s continues to strive to improve.
Located on Highway 87 South in Navarre, Scooter’s is a must-try for tourists and locals alike. Customers will find a wide range of tasty menu items, including fresh snapper, mullet, swordfish, grouper, mahi and flounder. Amberjack, Pompano, soft shell crab and smoked tuna dip are also popular menu items at Scooter’s. The mullet comes straight out of East Bay or the Santa Rosa Sound.
Make sure you try their newest addition to the menu – oysters, fresh from the Gulf of Mexico. Get these half-shucked oysters raw or chargrilled – seasoned with their house seasoning, grill butter, Italian breadcrumbs and topped with parmesan cheese. All oysters are served with lemons, atomic horseradish, cocktail sauce and Tabasco hot sauce.
Come enjoy some coastal cuisine accompanied by an ice-cold beverage. Scooter’s now serves beer, cocktails and liquor. The beer selection includes Michelob Ultra, Budweiser, Bud Light, Riptide Amber and Blonde Ale. Scooter’s carries a wide array of frozen beverages to quench your thirst. Depending on the day, you can order a delicious Strawberry Daiquiri, Piña Colada, Blended Margarita, or Bushwhacker – served in a souvenir Scooter’s mason jar.
The Scooter’s Build-Your-Own menu has options for one to three proteins and customers can chose grilled or fried. Then, they can decide if they want it served in a taco, dinner, combo, platter, Samwich, or kid’s portion. Sides can be ordered individually, as well as drinks and dessert. Every order is completely personalized.
Colossal and popcorn shrimp are also on the menu. Try it with Scooters’ Bang Bang sauce, made from scratch. The Bang Bang Shrimp and Bang Bang Chicken are to die for.
Their kid’s menu consists of options such as fried fish, fried shrimp or fried chicken. All kid’s meals come with a side of fries and a hush puppy.
There are plenty of delicious sides as well, including barbecue beans, fries and cheese grits. Wedge salad and Caesar salad are also options.
If you want dessert, Scooter’s has that, too. Key lime pie, made in-house, is a staple on the menu.
Scooters has started a cash incentive discount, so if you’re looking to save some money, break out those bills. If customers pay with cash, they pay their normal amount and using a card, customers will pay a 4% surcharge. The restaurant also accepts all forms of payment including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and any mobile wallet or tap pay option.
People can skip the line and order at the self-order kiosk on their porch for ease. Customers can also call in their orders or order online at scootersfishhouse.com.
Owner John Poates believes that the secret to a successful restaurant is pouring into your employees and building them up.
“You empower your team, and they will empower you,” he said.
