NOAA: HURRICANE HUNTER PLANES MOVE FROM TAMPA TO LAKELAND

NOAA announced the new home Wednesday for its two Lockheed WP-3D Orion “hurricane hunter” aircraft, along with its Gulfstream IV-SP. The planes fly in and around tropical storms to measure their intensity and forecast their path.

DOLPHINS PLAYER LEON ORR CUT AFTER ARREST ON DRUG CHARGES

Coach Adam Gase says the team cut Orr immediately after learning of the arrest during Wednesday’s practice. Orr played at the University of Florida and was in his second NFL season.

FLORIDA JOBS AGENCY GETS NEW CHIEF DESPITE MURKY FUTURE

The board of directors of Enterprise Florida voted Wednesday to hire Chris Hart as the next president and CEO. Hart, who takes over on Jan. 3, has been working as the president and CEO of CareerSource Florida, the state’s job-training organization.

FLAGLER COLLEGE NAMES NEW PRESIDENT

The college on Wednesday said Joseph G. Joyner will succeed William T. Abare, Jr., who has served as the school’s president for the past 15 years. The 2,500-student independent college is located in historic downtown St. Augustine, and its main building is a national historic landmark.

GAS CLERK ARRESTED IN THEFT OF FLORIDA LOTTERY TICKETS

The clerk was arrested Monday after her manager at the Speedway station reported the theft. The Florida Lottery tickets cost $25 each. Port St. Lucie police say she took 40 $10 Million Fortune lottery tickets on Sunday morning.
