Taxi driver hailed for helping police

Police video cameras are getting considerable credit of late for recording accounts of crimes and clashes with civilians, and now a Yellow Cab driver and his recording acumen are being applauded for helping apprehend two hit-and-run suspects in Gulf Breeze.

Eric Holmes videoed the hit-and-run of a pedestrian at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 29 in front of the Gulf Breeze Publix just after he drove off the Bob Sikes Bridge returning from Pensacola Beach.

The male victim, who survived the accident, was thrown against the windshield of a Chevrolet Malibu driven by two women, according to a City of Gulf Breeze commendation presented to Holmes by Police Chief Robert Randle.
