Gov. Scott seeks more fishing days in federal waters

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved April 16 a 52-day recreational red snapper season in state waters beginning May 24. The next day, Gov. Rick Scott sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Commerce urging the agency to provide additional fishing opportunities in federal waters.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission April 16 approved a 52-day Gulf red snapper season in state waters but the season in federal waters is only 11 days.
