Easter eggs coming to British Pedlar

Chocolate Easter eggs are a big deal in England. According to Statista.com, over 80 million Easter eggs are sold in the UK every year, and the average child will consume eight of them.

Every Easter, children all over the world look forward to Easter morning where they eagerly hunt for eggs and then dig into their chocolate findings.

Luckily, British Pedlar in Harvest Village has got you covered, with more than 30 different types of authentic and deliciously sweet Easter eggs. Some of their chocolate eggs even weigh about a pound.

Easter is just around the corner and will fall on April 17 this year.

British Pedlar’s new Easter stock arrives towards the end of February and will feature over 30 different types of chocolate Easter eggs and assorted egg hunt kits.

Michael says his most popular chocolate Easter eggs are Cadbury, Flake, Crunchie, Maltesers and Galaxy. The Cadbury Creme Egg is a British favorite, consisting of a thick Cadbury chocolate shell with a gooey, sweet fondant filling resembling the yoke and white of a real egg.

The Easter stock will also include traditional Hot Cross Buns, which are spiced sweet bun with a cross on top. They are traditionally eaten on Good Friday in the U.K.

Michael Blois, an Englishman who moved to the United States in 2008, has a heart for sharing British culture with the community of Navarre. Michael started out as “British Pedlar’s best customer” and became the owner Aug. 13, 2018.

“I fancied a change in life, and I have really enjoyed it. It’s been great, and the customers are fantastic,” Michael said.

The British Pedlar offers authentic British and Irish food and specialty gifts of all kinds. They have a little bit of everything, from a variety of frozen meats and tasty pies to delicious crumpets and sweet chocolate treats.

This Saturday, Feb. 26, British Pedlar will be hosting the British Eatery food truck on-site serving authentic fish and chips, Shepherd’s Pie, battered sausage and other original British cuisine. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. right outside of the store.

This month marks Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II which commemorates her 70 years of service in the Commonwealth. England celebrates this wonderful occasion in June when the weather is nicer. British Pedlar will be celebrating June 4 with a parking lot party. The British Eatery food truck will also be parked outside of British Pedlar, so mark your calendars now.

In a few weeks, British Pedlar will start to get their jubilee stock in to honor the queen, including mugs, teacups, saucers and tote bags.
When asked what makes him stand out amongst his competition, Michael replied, “We’re not better, we’re different. No shop is better than anyone else. We try to bring more of the traditional British and Irish food.”
Their groceries are made from more natural ingredients than typical American food and drinks.
“Our sweets are made with fruit, not a chemical, and all of our sodas are made with glucose instead of high fructose corn syrup. And most Cadbury chocolate, their first ingredients are milk and cocoa, not sugar,” Michael said.

In addition, if there is a specific British item that a customer can’t find at the store, Michael can order it.

The British Pedlar also has an online inventory that can be found on www.BritishPedlar. com with all the same items in the store.

“It’s probably the best place in the area to come and get a taste of the United Kingdom,” Michael said.
