Though most visitors can’t imagine Navarre Beach with tall sand dunes, small buildings and endless stretches of empty sand, a family from Baton Rouge, Louisiana can’t imagine it any other way.
In the early 1970s, the Bill Lewis Sr. family of Louisiana, got into the habit of telling the ocean goodbye each year before heading home. There were eight children in the family. Lewis recently wrote a Facebook memoir about those years. Submitted Photo
