Dark objects seen floating off Navarre Beach

Beachgoers and vacationers reported seeing "large dark objects" floating past the Navarre Beach Pier on Dec. 29, raising concerns of possible pollutants floating up on the beach. However, it was discovered upon further investigation that the dark objects floating in the Gulf were actually sea grasses stirred up during recent winter storms.

The “penguins” participating in the second annual Penguin Plunge into Santa Rosa Sound next month will be “Freezin’ for a Reason.” According to Mandy Evers at Juana’s Pagodas, the proceeds from the event will benefit the Emerald Coast Honor Flight, a local non-profit organization dedicated to flying America’s veterans to the nation’s capital to view the landmarks free of charge.
