'Cool' idea raises money for good cause

Donating to a good cause can now be as easy as buying a bag of ice. An ice machine located in front of Century 21 Island View Realty in Navarre has been bought by Horizons-The Arc of the Emerald Coast, which is an advocacy organization based in Fort Walton Beach for citizens of all ages with disabilities such as downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, austime and spin bifida. All proceeds from the ice machine will go to funding...

Songwriter Festival to bring music, money to Navarre

The inaugural Navarre Beach Songwriter Festival is expected to light up both the stages and the local cash registers this weekend. About a dozen artists and bands – both regionally and nationally known – will perform at the three-day festival. Santa Rosa County militia up to 250 members

Second Amendment rights groups are experiencing record-breaking surges in membership as gun dealers struggle to meet the demand for more personal firearms amid a gun supply shortage, which includes ammunition. The Santa Rosa County’s official militia, which was established by county ordinance in 1994, also has seen a recent surge in membership, spiking to 250 members after promotion by local Tea Party officials.

Surf's Up for Navarre Beach Surf Warriors

The 2nd Annual Navarre Beach Surf Warriors will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at Navarre Beach County Park. The program provides an avenue for healing emotional scars of war through the healing power of the salt water, good times in the sun and visiting with friends and fellow wounded warriors. Last year, five wounded warriors participated in the inaugural Navarre Beach Surf Warriors. This year, the event has tripled to include 15 wounded warriors — and there’s a waiting list.
