FCAT scores continue climb in SRC

Although the FCAT will soon be a thing of the past, many Santa Rosa County schools are bidding adieu with much-improved scores. Grade levels 4, 8 and 10 earned mean scores that tied for the third highest score in the state, with the 8th, 5th and “highest” scores respectively at level 3.5 or above, according to Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick’s office. Open government champion Mike Hill wins special election primary

Mike Hill, president and founder of the Northwest Florida Tea Party, scored a victory in the May 14 primary special election for the House District 2 seat. Hill earned the top Republican spot and will face Democratic challenger Jeremy Lau in the June 11 general election to fill the late Clay Ford’s Florida House District 2 seat. SRC County Commissioners choose concrete over paper

There is almost $2 million available in impact fee funding, but Santa Rosa County will have to return those funds to those who initially paid the fees if the money is not utilized within about 30 months.
