Cook closing book on library career

Susan Cook remembers going into the public library in Panama City to do research for high school term papers, and it was during that time that she decided she wanted to be a librarian.

“I remember observing the librarians and what they were doing in their jobs,” Cook said. “I think that planted the seed for me and I pursued it in college.”

Four decades later, Cook is closing the book on her professional career as a librarian, with nearly the last 10 being spent as the manager of the Navarre Library.

The Santa Rosa Library system was still part of the West Florida/Escambia Library system a decade ago but when Cook was hired, plans were in motion to separate the two systems.
