Florida’s Ombudsman Program a voice for residents

The statistics are astounding. According to Florida’s Long-term Care Ombudsman Program, nearly 60 percent of long-term care residents in Florida do not receive visits from family members and friends. Unfortunately, that means that no one is looking out for their best interests when it comes to their health, safety, welfare and personal rights.

The Ombudsman Program aims to give those residents a voice. The all-volunteer members are from all walks of life and work to improve the quality of life for residents in long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen advocate for residents’ rights, investigate and resolve concerns of residents, and even perform annual assessments of every facility in Florida. There is never any charge for their services.
