Out and About

Beginning next year, Santa Rosa residents will have many more shopping options than they do right now.

At some point, new Publix stores in east Navarre and Milton will be open, as will the much-discussed Aldi near the foot of the Navarre Beach bridge.

Out and About

Navarre and Santa Rosa County are always busy places and having a tropical storm peeking at us always dials that up.

We spent time looking at Tropical Storm Fred, which could have gone anywhere, but did not choose us. We got lucky and hours after it made landfall in Cape San Blas, the sun was shining over Navarre’s beautiful beaches.

It’s hard to miss the fact that school is back in session and school zone lights are flashing again.

The need to slow down to allow safe transportation of area students can’t be over-emphasized. Yes, it makes all of our drives longer, but we need to take care of each other.

We have made it through what’s typically billed the busiest weekend of the year and despite the weather not perfectly cooperating, it appears to have been a success.

My family and I spent time on the beach July 4, enjoying the live band and the fireworks, and we were not alone, nor did I expect to be.

Out and About

The Fourth of July is right around the corner and we’re expecting busy beaches, businesses and roadways.

We’re also expecting one of the biggest local fireworks shows on July 4th at 9 p.m., which will be shot from the end of the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier.

Out and About

Our local officials have been busy this week sorting out everything from budget, changes to the land development code and what to do about the soon-to-be-empty seat for the county attorney.

I’ll start with the last item first. The county has been using the services of a Tallahassee law firm since commissioners voted to fire the county attorney late last year.
