Rudman files Carli bill again for 2024 legislative session
Florida Rep. Dr. Joel Rudman (R-Navarre) has filed a custody exchange safety bill for the forthcoming 2024 legislative session. The bill, known as the Cassie Carli bill, would require Sheriff’s Offices in each county to come up with at least one designated safe custody exchange place within their jurisdiction. According to Rudman’s office, the safe-exchange location will be signified by a purple light in the parking lot of a Sheriff station or substation. The location must have 24/7 video monitoring as well as adequate lighting.
State Representative Dr. Joel Rudman introduced the Cassie Carli Bill for the 2023 legislative session but it stalled in the senate. He hopes the 2024 session will be different.
