The suspect who was shot and killed by a Santa Rosa Sheriff’s deputy Tuesday has been identified as 24-year old Isaac Michael Scroggie of Pensacola.
In a press release issued by the Sheriff’s office, Scroggie is described as a 6 foot tall white male with brown hair and brown eyes.
Tuesday, at approximately 12:50 p.m. Santa Rosa County Sheriff Deputies were called to a home in the 2000 block of Bright Water Drive in Midway for a suspicious person.
While en route, the call was upgraded when the Scroggie broke into the home. When the deputy arrived at the home, Scroggie came out and physically confronted the deputy in the driveway.
During the confrontation, Scroggie was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
A search conducted by Navarre Press did not turn up any arrests in Santa Rosa, Okaloosa or Escambia counties.
Public Information Officer Rich Aloy said in the release the case remains active with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. They also do not expect to release any further information until the FDLE investigation is complete.
One man is dead and a sheriff’s deputy is in the hospital following a shooting incident in the Midway area of Gulf Breeze Tuesday.
According to a sheriff’s office press release, at approximately 12:50 p.m. Santa Rosa County Sheriff Deputies were called to a home in the 2000 block of Bright Water Drive in Midway. The nature of the call was in relation to a suspicious person.
While en route, the call was upgraded as the suspect broke in to the home the report says. When the deputy arrived at the home, the suspect came out and physically confronted the deputy in the driveway.
During the confrontation, the suspect was shot. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was transported to a local area hospital for injuries. The deputy is in good condition the report says.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading this investigation. The sheriff’s office report states they do not plan to release any additional information until FDLE completes their investigation.
