Zeaven Jones said he hit a personal-best at a weightlifting meet earlier this year, and he knew then big things were ahead.


He wasn’t wrong. Jones is headed to state for the first time and will compete with the Raiders next Thursday in the FHSAA 3A meet at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

Navarre’s softball team punched a ticket to another District 1-6A championship game by beating Crestview 2-0 in the semifinal round on Tuesday night.

Greg Boozer has done just about everything around the Navarre boys basketball program in his more than 20 years with it.


He’s been a varsity assistant coach. A freshman and JV coach. He has driven the bus. He’s kept the scorebook and clock at games. He’s even swept the floors.

The regional track meets are this week and Santa Rosa County will be well-represented. 

Navarre’s boys lacrosse team set a record for wins this season and nearly made it to the regional tournament for the first time.

Melanie Borrell started playing lacrosse in eighth grade. When she got to high school in 2022, she continued in the sport.


Times were tough. The Raiders won four games. They won four again a year later. In that span, Navarre lost 20 games.

I know this current generation of high school athletes can sometimes be given a hard time about not being tough enough or focused enough.


But there is a lot of promise and potential for the future.

They call Quentin Randolph ‘The Franchise’ as he is the Vegas Knight Hawks’ all-time leading receiver.


The former Navarr Raider is also a human highlight reel in the Indoor Football League.

Navarre’s boys weightlifting team put together a solid performance at the Region 1-3A meet Saturday at Pace.


Kaige McDonnell, Cole Downam and Roan Strom all won championships to pave the way for the Raiders, who earned runner-up honors as a team in Olympic.

With the NFL Draft rolling along with this weekend, Navarre’s own Grady Kelly is hoping to hear his name called.


Kelly is one of the Raiders’ all-time greats on defense and played at three different schools at the college level, starting his career at Colorado State and ending it at Michigan State. He also spent a season at Florida State.
