The University of West Florida football team added 11 freshmen to its roster on national signing day Wednesday.

Seven of the recruits the reigning NCAA Division II national champions picked up are from Florida. The other four are from Alabama.

Raider girls soccer team begins district tourney play

Navarre’s girls soccer team is still the reigning district champion.

The Raiders are hoping to keep that title this season as they get set to begin District 1-6A play tonight in a semifinal matchup against Pace. Game time is 5 p.m. at Twin Oaks in Niceville.

Olivia Warren pulled up from 3-point range in the final minute of the third quarter, swishing home her shot to extend the Navarre lead to 14.

It was a clutch shot in a big moment and it helped the Raiders take down Crestview 50-40 and put the program on the edge of district glory for the first time in five years.

Carter seizes the moment at Senior Bowl

Michael Carter said at the beginning of the week that he hoped to come away with MVP honors at the Senior Bowl.

He didn’t accomplish that goal, but the Navarre alum came pretty close, delivering a productive performance that included rushing for 60 yards on eight carries and scoring a touchdown. He also caught two passes for 15 yards.

Navarre’s girls weightlifting team continues its dominance of the region, winning its 14th consecutive championship Friday at Oak Leaf High School in Orange Park.

The Raiders claimed the trophy on the strength of a performance that featured four regional champs.
