The University of West Florida volleyball team recently announced its signing class.

Jax Callen developed a passion for volleyball pretty quickly. When he  was younger, his dad introduced him to the beach version of it and Callen hasn’t looked back.

Navarre alum Michael Carter will be on the Arizona Cardinals’ active roster for Sunday’s season finale against the San Francisco 49ers.

In a match against Stephen F. Austin in November, Kyra McKelvey turned in a big-time performance, the kind of performance fans were used to seeing during her days at Navarre.


McKelvey racked up a career-high 21 kills for Southeastern, which won the match in five sets and extended one of the nation’s longest win streaks to 20.

Several area teams are ranked among the top eight in the first set of the FSHAA regional basketball rankings.


Milton’s girls basketball team is seventh in Region 1-6A while the boys are eighth. Jay is ranked second in the Rural region.

The regional rankings for girls and boys soccer currently feature two Santa Rosa County teams in the top eight, with Navarre’s girls and boys teams both in that position.

When Antenney Hemingway retired from the United States Air Force after 15 years, he wanted to still make a difference. He saw coaching as a path to doing just that.
