‘It’s night and day’ for Raider baseball team

Cole Crocker sent the ball into the air in the opening inning of play Thursday night against Booker T. Washington. Ashton Sieg didn’t hesitate to take off for home from third base and slid across the plate for the first run of the night. It was textbook baseball for the Raiders, who put another win in the books with a 6-3 victory over the Wildcats at home.

Edwards part of Florida Gators’ runner-up finish at nationals

Navarre alum Bri Edwards capped her second season as a college gymnast celebrating a runner-up finish at the NCAA championship meet. Competing in Fort Worth, Texas, last week, the Florida Gators scored 198.2375 points, narrowly missing the mark to top Oklahoma for the title. The Sooners finished with a 198.3875 total to repeat as national champions.

Season ends for Raider flag football team; future of program bright

Navarre’s flag football team saw its season come to a close last Monday night with a 20-14 loss to rival Gulf Breeze in the District 1-6A tournament. Courtney Danforth and Bella both scored touchdowns while Jayah Jones tallied the two extra points for the Raiders.

Runner-up Raiders: Navarre takes second at state weightlifting meet

Navarre’s goal was a state championship. And the Raiders nearly pulled it off. In the end late Saturday night at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, the clock pushing past 11 p.m. in the Eastern time zone, Navarre found itself as the runner-up in Olympic and traditional at the FHSAA 3A boys state weightlifting meet.

Raiders end flag football season with loss to Pace

Madison Simmons ran with the ball in her hands, looking at first as if she was going to pass before keeping possession of it and weaving through a few defenders for extra yards. That play defined the second half for the Navarre Raider flag football team, which kept battling even with a comeback out of reach against eighth-ranked Pace last Wednesday.

Nine Navarre athletes signed their national letters of intent last Wednesday at the high school. Kenzie England, Joey Indelicato, Madison Laina, Eliza McGuire, Kyra McKelvey, Katie McLeod, Ameer Rustom, Dwayne Clark and Hailey Snider will all continue their careers at the college level this fall.

Rally time! Navarre baseball team battles back to beat Gators

8-1. That’s what Navarre’s baseball team was down after two innings against Escambia Tuesday night. It could have been a fold up shop and call it a night kind of moment for the Raiders in a game they seemed to have no chance to win against one of the area’s better teams.
