National Park Service exploring public spearfishing to control lionfish
The dreaded Indo-Pacific Lionfish have been spotted in local Gulf Islands National Seashore waters, and park officials are exploring the idea to allow capturing by spearfishing, something which has traditionally not been allowed by the National Park Service within park waters other than Biscayne National Park in south Florida.
No-license free fishing days extended
On Saturday, April 6, anglers were able to fish Florida’s freshwaters without a fishing license, but not to worry if it passed unaware, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is offering three other free fishing license days.

Navarre Beach hotel definitely a go
The owners of Margaritaville on Pensacola Beach and Crowne Plaza in downtown Pensacola are moving forward with plans to rebuild a hotel on the 20-acre parcel they hold for a long-term lease on Navarre Beach.
