Joint utility set to fight for water protection
Fairpoint Utility, the collective of water utilities for south Santa Rosa County, announced a new strategy for stopping repeal of water well protections.
A press release issued Dec. 22 addresses a vote by the board of county commissioners (BCC) Dec. 10 to repeal a section of the Comprehensive Plan that would allow expansion of a borrow pit and vegetation dumping over the wells that supply water to all of south Santa Rosa.

The hike was subdivided into a one-time 5% rate bump and a 1.2% increase based on the Federal Consumer Price Index.
Jesters concerned about COVID, cancel parade
The Navarre Krewe of Jesters announced their decision Friday morning to cancel the 2021 Navarre Beach Mardi Gras Parade.
The decision was made with “heavy hearts,” according to Charlene Tremor, president of the Krewe. She said general membership made the decision Wednesday night.

Report: Young mother passed out with kids in car
A 26-year-old Gulf Breeze mother of two was arrested Dec. 10, nearly five months after a Santa Rosa deputy found her passed out in a car with her two children in the back seat.
