Fire heavily damages home, displaces local family
The Holley-Navarre Fire District responded to an early morning Wednesday in the 8900 block of Orlando Avenue.
The call came in about 3 a.m., with the caller advising that the house was filled with smoke and the fire was coming from the area of a gas grill on the lanai in the rear of the residence. Everyone was out of the house, the caller said.

Retention wall fails, sends cascade of red clay into Santa Rosa Sound
The contractor for a new development on the Santa Rosa Sound has been fined for allowing an illegal discharge into the waterway. Red clay colored the waterway along the shoreline after a retaining wall apparently was breached.
