In mid-July, local children plunged beneath the seas in Holley Assembly of God’s three-day Vacation Bible School, “Anchored, Deepening Faith in God.”

A team of volunteers transformed the church facilities into an underwater wonderland.

On Sunday, July 25 church members and friends of Navarre United Methodist Church (NUMC) gathered in the newly renovated sanctuary for worship for the first time in seven months.

The renovation project was born out of necessity.

A cross is typically the centerpiece of a church sanctuary and the focal point when someone walks through the doors.

After Hurricane Sally caused substantial damage to Navarre United Methodist Church (NUMC) last September, the church began to revamp their building.

For two weeks in June, a team of 20 high school students and six leaders from Community Life Methodist Church (CLC) in Gulf Breeze traveled to Anchorage, Alaska to work alongside Chugach Covenant Church (c3anchorage.org) and Pastor Ben Schoffmann.

A newly divorced woman, “Anna,” was short on funds and behind on her rent. She was also pregnant.

Even after her baby was born, she had to work three jobs to try and catch up so she wouldn’t be evicted. She needed help, but where could she turn?

On Sunday, June 27th, James Dean Linsky, was baptized by his grandfather, Deane Linsky, a retired pastor. The way this event unfolded was a marvelous display of God’s providence, the family says.

It was a rainy Friday night when Jim Brown set up his all-night vigil at St. Sylvester Catholic Church.

What brought him out on such an inclement night was a duty that required his skill and careful attention. Outside in the parking lot sat a large smoker filled with pork shoulders.

This past week marked the official start of summer. After a year of lockdowns and quarantines, local churches offered in-person Vacation Bible Schools.

A large, theater-style backdrop, created by a mother, transformed the platform at First Baptist Church of Navarre (FBCN) into “Destination Dig,” this year’s theme for VBS, which ran in the mornings from June 21-25.

On the morning of June 12, a crowd of over 350 race participants, supporters and sponsors gathered in the hall at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze, the rallying point for the 10th annual Flag Day Run/Walk sponsored by the St. Sylvester Columbiettes and the Knights of Columbus.
