Woodlawn Middle’s SWAT looks to make mark in first full year
In 2021, a study from the CDC found that e-cigarette use among youth remained a serious public health concern even amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The study estimated that more than two million U.S. middle and high school students reported currently using e-cigarettes and vapes in 2021.
Navarre principals share thoughts on new school year
School administrators from across Santa Rosa County were busy at work before school opened Aug. 10.
Prior to the school year, school administrators were engaged in hiring new personnel, enrolling new students, creating master schedules, breaking down assessment data from the previous year and collaborating with other administrators from different schools.
South end high school plans move forward
The prospect of a new high school coming to the Midway area recently took a major leap forward.
At the July 21 school board meeting, DAG Architects unveiled phase one of their plans for the proposed high school, which will be built on the site where the Flea Market used to be on Highway 98. It will be three stories.

With school beginning on Aug. 10, school administrators, teachers, staff, students and parents are all getting ready for a brand new year.

School district names Navarre’s Windfelder principal of year
Navarre High School Principal Kasie Windfelder was named the Santa Rosa County District Schools’ High School Principal of the Year for 2022-2023 at a meeting of school administrators on July 26.
Navarre High School responded to the recognition on their Facebook page, “this honor is well-deserved, and we are endlessly thankful for how she tirelessly serves our school community every day.”
Santa Rosa District Schools announces new hirings across county
With the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year, Santa Rosa County District Schools are busy planning for next year.
Part of those arrangements is the installation of people in new positions from principals over individual schools to administrators over the whole district.
United Way of West Florida collects school supplies
Every Summer, just before children return to the classrooms, United Way of West Florida and other community partners come together to help get students the tools they need to make the school year successful.
On July 21, they will do that again with “Stuff the Bus.”
