Public invited to attend Transportation planning workshop in Gulf Breeze April 8

| Hansen Hasenberg

The Florida-Alabama Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) is currently reviewing its priorities list for upcoming projects and wants citizen feedback. On Wednesday, April 8, The TPO is hosting two meetings at Gulf Breeze Community Center (800 Shoreline Park Drive) to give people more insight into projects planned for their communities.

The first meeting is a public workshop, which is available both in-person and online. The online version is audio only. During the meeting, people will be able to look at plans the TPO has for projects including Navarre Community Access Road, Highway 90 expansion, a US 98 multimodal overpass in Gulf Breeze, Interstate 10 widening and a new connector between Highway 87 N and Munson Highway.

Multimodal Planning refers to transportation and land use planning that considers diverse transportation options, typically including walking, bicycling, public transit, and automobile, and accounts for land use factors that affect accessibility.

According to the Emerald Coast Regional Council website, which is affiliated with the TPO, the first meeting begins at 10:30 a.m.

The second meeting begins at 2 p.m. and is also a workshop. Both are accessible online. Click here to access live and upcoming TPO and other ECRC event information.

The two meetings are part of series of meetings and workshops to garner feedback from the public and keep stakeholders aware of the latest project considerations.

An online survey concerning the priority list for FY 2028-32 is also available. To find out more information about the meeting, locate the online survey and see the current drafts of the project priority lists, click here.

The TPO is comprised of regional leaders from Baldwin County to Santa Rosa County. They help determine which projects should be prioritized. The determinations of the TPO helps give Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and its counterpart in Alabama, a blueprint for which projects to fund.

The final list of priorities will be approved during a TPO meeting on May 13 at 9 a.m. at Bayview Community Center in Pensacola. The address for Bayview Center is 2001 E Lloyd St.
