Soundside High School potential boundary maps released
The zoning decision will be formally made Jan. 15, 2026, following a public hearing on what the school board deems “school boundary revisions” for the school.
There are three possible school zoning boundaries for Soundside High. High school age children who live in these areas will be automatically zoned for Soundside High.
According to the school board, this change in zoning will affect both Gulf Breeze High School and Navarre High School. At the school board’s Dec. 11 meeting, they are expected to approve of creating a public hearing in January. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at 5086 Canal St. in Milton.
The three boundary options will take anywhere between 599 to 805 students from Navarre High and 530 to 694 students from Gulf Breeze High for a total of between 1,129 students and 1,404 students. Those numbers include grades 9th through 12th.
Copies of specific maps of the zones that would be implemented, if the proposed boundary revisions are approved, will be made available for study and examination at the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Karen Barber, at 6032 Highway 90, Milton, Florida 32570, Monday through Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, through Jan. 15, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Additionally, the proposed boundaries will be made available for review on the district’s website at www.santarosa.k12.fl.us.

The new school, which is currently under construction, already has a principal and is in the process of hiring other staff as well.
During Soundside High’s inaugural year, the school is expected to have just freshman and sophomore grades in attendance. In subsequent years, as more freshman grades come along, the school will have four grade levels.
The new school will be located at 5706 Gulf Breeze Parkway (Highway 98), across from Gulf Breeze Zoo. The Jan. 15 public hearing will take place at the school board room at 5086 Canal St. in Milton.
