Sacred Heart completes first successful kidney transplant in northwest Florida
A University of Florida Health transplant surgeon has performed northwest Florida’s first kidney transplant as part of a collaboration between the Gainesville-based health system and Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola.
Kidney transplant surgeon Dr. Rick Stevens, nephrologist Dr. Shadi Oweis, Renwick Avant, the hospital’s first kidney transplant patient; nephrologist Dr. Humam Humeda, and transplant nephrologist Dr. Douglas Scott Keith celebrate the first kidney transplant performed in northwest Florida.
