FARP: Night Owls of USSOCOM

Hurlburt Field – Under the cover of darkness, a team of specially trained Airmen stand by a tanker aircraft in preparation for a covert refueling operation. The group waits as helicopters hover-taxi within 300 feet of one another and the tanker aircraft. Once the helicopters are in range, the awaiting Airmen rush to haul more than 760 feet of refueling hoses to the aircraft to transfer the necessary fuel needed for them to get back into the fight.
Maj. John Khlor is the commander of the 1st Special Operations Logistics Readiness Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla. Khlor oversees eight flights who provide total support to the 1st Special Operations Wing and associate units by meeting a full spectrum of logistic needs through the efficient supply of material and fuels, the expert management and maintenance of the vehicle fleet, the performance of traffic management service and the planning and management of the entire mobilization process to ensure an accurate and rapid response in the wing’s commitment to support global military operations.
