Weighlifting increases strength in elders

Ordinarily, muscle mass declines with age, starting in one’s 30s. Over time, the typical rate of muscle loss starts to outpace the rate of muscle gain, resulting in an increasing net deficit. Decline in muscle mass can weaken an already frail person making him or her more prone to falls or making it difficult to lift items, such as groceries onto the counter.
