Scientists from FAU hunt for sea sponges that fight cancer

Think of it as drawing medicine from the sea.
In this photo provided by Florida Atlantic University/Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute/South Florida Sun-Sentinel, a scientist on the Gulf of Mexico places a sponge in a jar to be tested. Florida Atlantic University scientists have developed a sophisticated device that allows them to inspect ocean reefs and collect sponges with chemicals to fight an array of diseases, from Alzheimer’s to cancer.
