Navarre man killed in auto accident on U.S. 98
24-year-old Jacob McKinley of Navarre was killed Sept. 11 on U.S. 98 after a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into McKinley’s Ford Escape.

Judicial town hall meetings underway

Voters will decide during the Nov. 4 general election whether or not they support a 5-year one-cent sales tax increase to fund the proposed $50 million project.

He’s on bus tour with other state leaders, campaigning on tax cuts and economic growth. The “Let’s Keep Working” campaign stopped Sept. 10 in East Milton, highlighting The Ropella Group’s success as an example of how the state economy is prospering.
Consultant, residents face off with questions about incorporation
The Navarre Incorporation feasibility study cost $27,500, property taxes could go up $100 per year and the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office will remain the presiding law enforcement agency if Navarre incorporated.
County recreation funds get boost
Local customers pay a 5-percent franchise fee on their electric utility bills. That money comes back to Santa Rosa County and adds up to roughly $6 million annually. Commissioners Sept. 11 decided to allocate a larger portion of that amount to district recreation budgets.

Child molester gets to 3 life sentences
70-year-old Paul Frank Small, Jr. has been found guilty by a Santa Rosa County jury of two counts of sexual battery upon a child less than 12 years of age, lewd or lascivious molestation and lewd or lascivious exhibition in the presence of a child. Small was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences with an additional 15 year sentence.
