NJROTC cadets earn recognition in essay contest

Master Chief Petty Officer James Ethridge has always emphasized the importance of writing to his NJROTC students at Navarre High School.

It’s why he makes every student participate in the Fleet Reservation Association Americanism Essay contest each year.

“All of my students do it,” Ethridge said. “Writing is very important to me and it’s a way to help them get ready for college.”

A total of 12 cadets, three from each grade level, were given awards April 20 for their essays on what the American Flag means to them.
