School district eliminates round of exams

The Santa Rosa County School District will eliminate the district-developed Local End of Course Exams, according to an email from Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick.

Wyrosdick said House Bill 7069, which addresses educational accountability, passed in April and provides school districts with some flexibility for implementation of Local End of Course Exams.

“As you are aware, I have been a proponent of divorcing student performance data from the teacher evaluation process UNTIL we have a valid and reliable assessment system with consistent longitudinal data,” he wrote in the email. “Additionally, we have spoken loudly students need to take fewer exams.”
