Windjammers opens SandBar downstairs

Thirsty for a piña colada on Navarre Beach? The SandBar at Windjammers is open for the season and, for the first time, serving alcoholic beverages to the beach crowd.

Enjoy a frozen cocktail on your way out to the beach to quench your thirst on a hot day.

The bar, which is underneath Windjammers on the Pier, opened last year, but did not have a liquor license at that time.

“Now we’re doing all kinds of frozen drinks, too,” said Tamara Fountain, who co-owns the businesses with husband, Ken Fountain.

The SandBar is also open for expanded hours this year, keeping the same schedule as Windjammers. Tamara said customers are a blend of new and regular customers, which means it is not only attracting new visitors but giving existing customers a new service experience.

“Our bar can get so busy on top, we can take care of more people at one time,” she said.

The SandBar opened in March, which is when the Spring Break crowd hit the beach.

“We’re doing very well,” Tamara said. “It’s a lot of fun, too. A lot of people just want to have a piña colada or a daquiri and enjoy the beach. They don’t want to be up on the deck with all the crowds.”

Windjammers provides a relaxing, coastal atmosphere to tourists and locals alike. The spacious, open-air deck seating gives guests the ultimate Gulf side experience.

Windjammers on the Pier has a full bar featuring beer, wine and liquor and includes a wide selection of tropical and frozen drinks. The newest addition to the drink menu is a collection of local craft beers. These beers are brewed locally in Gulf Coast ZIP codes.

Windjammers serves fresh fish daily specials along with many beach favorites. Their Caribbean Island Prep has a lime and coconut flavor with a touch of heat.

Windjammers also has gourmet burgers with Angus, chuck and short rib mix cooked to perfection.
Located right on Navarre Beach, Windjammers has special events throughout the week to get locals and tourists excited.

On Mondays, BT Turner sings and plays beach music to the crowd from 3-7 p.m., providing fun family entertainment.

Like to sing yourself? Come sing your favorite song at karaoke Wednesday nights with DJ Grizzle, stating at 6 p.m.
“DJ Grizzle makes it fun for the novice, for the tourist, the local and the kid. There’s a place for everyone,” Tamara said.

When you are finished eating, don’t forget to check out the pier gift shop, located right next door. It is loaded with customized Navarre apparel and all different kinds of tackle.

They open the pier at 5 a.m. and both bars at 10 a.m. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. and all four close at 11 p.m.
Come on out to Windjammers on the Pier for a unique dining experience that you will surely treasure.
