Growing up, Barbie was my best friend. My family lived in a rural area, was not connected by iPhones or iPads and watched almost no television.
Our big treat was going to the library once a week, followed a walk down the street to the nearest dime store, which not as hyperbolically named as you might think. There were many items that cost a dime or less, and even more that were less than $1.
Yes, I’m that old. But I digress.
To make up for my lack of playmates, I created an entire Barbie kingdom on the Ping-Pong table in our family room.
