UWF not holding popular football camps this year

Pen Air Field will be a little quieter the second weekend of July.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of West Florida football team isn’t holding its Friday Night Lights and Sunday Night Showdown camps next month. A special teams camp is also held that weekend.

All camps scheduled on campus for June and July have been called off.

The football camps draw several hundred athletes from across the Sunshine State and beyond each year. The first camp was held in 2014 and it’s risen in popularity ever since. Navarre football players are regulars at the camps.

The Argonauts have established themselves as one of the elite teams in NCAA Division II football, winning the national championship in December. UWF has reached the title game twice in its first four years of football.
