Throughout the summer and now into the preseason practices, Navarre’s volleyball team has created a culture that seemingly has set the tone for success.
Unified as a team, the Raiders are ready to take the next step forward and contend for the first district championship in program history. Navarre last finished as a runner-up in 2007.
“Between tryouts and the practices, the volleyball has been intense,” Navarre head coach Ryan Davenport said. “The girls are ready to go.”
Five seniors are on this team, including Haley McGee, who said the chemistry among the players is as good as it’s ever been.
“We are all working together and communicating more on the court,” McGee said. “We’re helping each other out.”
McGee injured herself in practice and is out until right before senior night. But she still plans to be a leader, even if it’s from the bench.
“It’s so hard being out right now,” McGee said. “I really want to be out there, but I’ll still lead any way I can and help the younger girls grow. We have a lot of potential for growth as a team.”
Aubrey Walls has taken on a leadership role as well even though she is only a junior.
