Allison Gutierrez and Rachel Hester have confidence in each other to get the job done in the circle. Their teammates have just as much faith in them as well.
Both pitchers for Navarre’s softball team have shown just how good they can be, particularly over the last two seasons, and it allows head coach Kelly Hayes to put either one in the game and not worry.
“It’s a pitching club,” Hayes said. “We never rely on just one. We know we can count on both of them to finish games.”
Hester is a junior and a Flagler commit. She was dominant in last Tuesday’s 9-1 win over Crestview, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out eight. She walked only one.
Yet, if Hester is having a tough night or vice versa, the two know they can count on each other.
