UPDATE- Sept. 20, 10 a.m.: City of Milton officials have released the name of a suspect killed in an officer involved shooting in Milton earlier this week.
Edward Matthew Guerrero-Cruz, 34, allegedly stole a dump truck at approximately 5:10 a.m. at a gas station in Milton. Law enforcement located him on Pensacola State College Milton Campus and gave chase. When cornered, Guerrero-Cruz allegedly rammed the dump truck into two squad cars.
Law enforcement officers fired shots at Guerrero-Cruz. He died in the incident.
This was not Guerrero-Cruz’s first incident with law enforcement. According to county court records, he was set to appear before a judge later that morning in connection to a felony charge of battery on an officer, firefighter or EMT.

According to a City of Milton press release, the incident occurred at around 5:20 a.m. on the Pensacola State College Milton Campus. The shooting involved two City of
Milton officers and one Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office deputy.
The suspect’s injuries were fatal. Neither deputy nor police officers were injured.
A report of a stolen dump truck from The Other Place gas station in Milton was reported at 5:10 a.m. Milton Police made contact with the dump truck shortly after at the Douglas Dillon Administration Center, county school board office, located on Highway 90.
A brief pursuit occurred into the Pensacola State College Milton Campus. Two law enforcement vehicles were rammed by the dump truck, one county and one city, after being cornered.
The suspect was shot and killed. Both city officers involved were placed on administrative leave.
