Holley Navarre Middle School took the Junior Division title at the 2020 West Panhandle Regional Science and Engineering Fair as multiple students won in a variety of categories. Students Kyle Macdonald, Faye Schlott, Devyn Stephens, James Peoples, Alex Ballard, Adrian Salazar and Eleni Nikolakakos were honored Feb. 20 by the school board. Macdonald, Schlott, Stephens, Peoples and Salazar also qualified for the state competition. First place winners not pictured are Savannah Burke, Braedon Bautista and Sydney Smith. Smith also won the Junior Division Grand Award.
Woodlawn Beach Middle School’s Robotics Team was honored by the Santa Rosa County School Board Feb. 20 for their efforts at the South’s BEST Regional Robotics Championship at Auburn University. The team won best middle school for their robot, designed to remotely repair utilities following a natural disaster. Teacher Shannon Farrell joined team members Mila DouBrava, Katy Beers, Bri Stannish, Daniel Molinar, Jesse Lee, Jet Timmons, Dayton Hurd, Matthew Letavish, Brianna Nat, Nathan Balago and Anna Nawoschik in demonstrating their robot’s abilities during the school board’s monthly meeting.
