Hurricane Sally almost cost Ron Davis his chance to fish in the eighth annual Navarre Fishing Rodeo last weekend.

Davis hurt himself when trying to clean up the mess she left behind and was limping around two days before the tournament, but by midday Saturday, he was feeling good enough to compete.

He launched his kayak and caught a redfish, a trout and two flounder, one of which took first place.

“I didn’t launch until 2 p.m. on Saturday and fished until almost 10 p.m. on Saturday,” he said.
