The Santa Rosa County Jail is currently holding 200 female inmates who were transported from the Escambia County Jail following an explosion there Wednesday night that killed two inmates and injured more than 100 inmates and corrections officers.
According to a press release from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, the females were provided breakfast and clean uniforms. The jail’s medical staff is conducting triage and follow up medical care.
According to a press release from Escambia County, the State Fire Marshall and ATF are on scene investigating the event that happened at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday. The explosion caused a portion of the jail facility to collapse.
