Warmer temperatures mean more and more motorcycles will travel down highways, city streets and county roads across northwest Florida. Unfortunately, more bikes on the road also mean a greater likelihood of car-motorcycle collisions.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety, the number of motorcycle accidents in Florida topped 9,300 in 2012 and increase of 8.85 percent. The number of fatalities increased by nearly 3 percent and totaled 425.
Three fatal motorcycle accidents happened in Feb. within a span of five days in Okaloosa County.
