Navarre had two individuals and a relay team come away from the 3A state track meet with medals Saturday at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville.
The 4×100 relay team of Dante Wright, Jaylen Shropshire, Nathan Crews and Evan Gourley clocked in with a time of 42.28 to place eighth. All four runners are seniors.
Abigail Pantlitz also capped her high school career with a medal, taking seventh in the 100-meter dash. She clocked in with a time of 12.15. It’s the first time Pantlitz has finished a state meet on the medal stand. Pantlitz is only a junior but is graduating a year early to attend NCAA Division I Liberty and run track.
The other medal winner was Talin Griffin, who was competing at state for the first time. He took sixth with a personal-best height of 13-9 1/4. Griffin is a sophomore who decided to give pole vaulting a try this year.
The Raiders had a total of 12 athletes qualify for state.
