Younger golfers stepping up for Navarre

Younger golfers are pushing to the top of the Raiders’ rotation as the season draws closer to the district tourney.

Andrew Ottley got around Hidden Creek Golf Course in 47 strokes Oct. 1 to lead the team in a three-team match with Pace and Milton.

“Lately it’s been Brady (Nevius) and Andrew. They’ve been moving in the right direction,” head coach Clark Brown said.

Ottley got around with just 19 putts and used his driver just three times. He went more with his three wood, which gave him his worst shot and best shot of the day.

Ottley remarked that one early-round swing with the three-wood was “my cleanest shot all day.” But a late-round swing resulted in his worst score of the day.

“My second shot – a three wood — on 8, (went) in the water, and that’s the only triple (bogey) I got,” Ottley said.

Fellow freshmen Brady Nevius and Will Rivers both shot a 49.
