Navarre swim coach Mary Moorer never expected her team to be in a situation late in the season where it didn’t have a pool to use.
Yet, on the final Sunday of September, she received an email stating the Raiders could no longer use the YMCA because there was no new contract in place for use of the pool.
She scrambled that night to inform her swimmers that there would be no practice last Monday. There was no practice the following day either.
“It knocked the kids out of their routine,” Moorer said. “They worked hard to get to where they are. We never expected something like to that happen.”
Everything is back to normal now.
After dividing up the team between the YMCA and the pool at the Holley By the Sea recreation center on Wednesday and Thursday, the team was together again in the same pool Monday morning.
